These injectable wrinkle relaxing treatments all work by temporarily paralyzing the facial muscles responsible for causing lines and wrinkles at rest that are often associated with aging. All three injectable neuromodulators work in a similar way – providing a more youthful appearance due to the reduction of lines and wrinkles, leaving behind smooth more refreshed-appearing skin. They are most commonly used around the eyes in the crow feet area, for the 11 between the brows, and for the wrinkles in the forehead.

Men and women who have wrinkles related to repetitive facial expressions (such as smiling, squinting or frowning) may be ideal candidates for neuromodulator treatments. However, these treatments may not be recommended if you are under 18, pregnant or breastfeeding, allergic to any of the components of the injections, or have any of the following conditions:

There is not much preparation required for injectable wrinkle relaxing treatments, however, there are recommendations to follow if you’d like to have the best experience possible.

Before the treatment it is recommended that patients avoid any medications or supplements that thin the blood due to the increased risk of bruising or bleeding after your injection.

After the treatment, for a few days it is recommended to avoid:

• Heavy exercise
• Sunbathing
• Saunas
• Alcohol consumption

Each of these increases the risk of additional swelling, redness and bruising.

While each injectable neuromodulator varies slightly in results, you should see results within one week of treatment for each option and they will all last for about 3-4 months. These results will vary from person to person, but you can expect to see improvement with each treatment you receive. In some cases, multiple treatments may be necessary to get the desired outcome, and your cosmetic injector will help you create a treatment plan customized to you.

Immediately after treatment patients may experience temporary redness, tenderness, slight swelling and other similar effects that are typical for injections.
